I just recently heard of CLEP from a friend of mine who has homeschooled her kids. This is not something that I've heard of in traditional public high schools.

any thoughts on using CLEP and going to traditional high school? can someone explain the basics to me?

I know students in public school who take CLEP (admittedly, not many). Usually, they take CLEP after an honors or AP class. Check out the FAQs at DegreePlanners.com – and the accelerated study page. These should answer your questions about how/when/where to take the tests.

I have taken and passed 8 CLEP and 2 DSST exams, all on my first try. They are basic summaries of the subjects. They are accepted by about 2,900 American colleges and universities. Each test costs 97 dollars. Some are worth three credits, some are worth six. Foreign Languages can be worth more.

The only studying I did was to take about 5 practice exams in the week before the test. Anyone can do this. It’s the best deal in education that there is.
