Basic programming skills for computer engineers

I was wondering what computer languages may be vital for prospective computer engineering students. I understand that your freshman year you sometimes have to take intros to cs.

Thanks

You will learn any needed computer languages in your introductory CS courses.

Different schools’ CS departments do organize their introductory CS courses for CS majors differently. Computer languages used in introductory CS courses for CS majors include any one or more of Python, Scheme, Java, C++, C, and assembly language. MATLAB will often be introduced if you take a computing for engineers course.

Some pre-college programming experience may be helpful. Self-study of introductory CS concepts (such as in this classic book: [Welcome to the SICP Web Site](http://mitpress.mit.edu/sicp/) ) before college will also be helpful.
