I'm new here. So, hi!
I am a high school senior dedicated to becoming a bassoon performance major. I am applying to the following schools-
Jacobs School at IU Bloomington
Eastman School at U Rochester
Florida State
CCM
U of M Ann Arbor
Blair School at Vanderbilt.

I am wondering what my chances are. It's a tough list, but I'm a hard worker. I am an AllState player in my state and have recieved several pre-college and summer camp scholarships. Percentages of admitted applicants would be good.
Thanks!

I’ve heard that bassoon players are in high demand due to the fact that few people play it. If that is true, it will help you both with admissions and merit aid.

A good friend of mine’s daughter who plays bassoon got a full ride scholarship from both University of Michigan and Michigan State University. She had been first chair in All-State both her junior and senior years.

Son has 2 friends that play bassoon. Both were accepted to Eastman last year. Neither got enough money to make it affordable. One at Peabody, One at Potsdam I believe.

I realize I’m late and you don’t have to respond but how big is the advantage of playing bassoon? I’ve been playing for two years and I’m semi-good. Would an ivy league say, hey he has the stats and what’s missing is something to make him stand out. he plays bassoon so let’s take him?

i’ve heard yale really wants players on its orchestra

not to say i want to go to yale music school but a friend is violin at yso and pre-med major
