*****Bates College Class of 2020 ED and RD Discussions*****

@kjdsdksf That’s what I thought, I guess it shouldn’t matter that much though. Tennis seems fun.

@lynkel Haha! Yeah its still pretty hot, but its “slightly” better during this season. In Nigeria we have only two seasons dry and wet season. Our dry season is similar to your summer only that its 10 times hotter and our wet season is our “version of winter” only not cold at all. Sorry about the weather over there though! You probably adore yours if you spend a week in Nigeria during dry season.

@kjdsdksf i play tennis to! only not so good.

@snow30 I hate the heat so much! It’s even worse than the snow. I guess I am just complaining about the snow because my parents won’t let me use my car.

@lynkel Haha! You even have a car!

@lynkel Over here, a parent giving a high school kid a car is like going against all laws of humanity. Its until like your in your senior year of college, before they realize you are worthy enough to own a car.

@snow30 Really? I have had a car for about 8 months now. Most of my friends have a car or are allowed to use their parents. Can you drive?

@lynkel Yeah I can(in a matter of speaking). Parents see nothing wrong in kids driving the parent’s car(s). But to own one is a different case. and its really annoying! But its not new to me.

@snow30 That is so interesting to me. I wonder what other differences are between us!

@lynkel Lool! Well the major one is that in all the countries in West Africa, Nigeria included(not sure about other parts of the country), you greet any one that’s older than you(at least 7 yrs older than you). Like we say Good morning sir, Good afternoon ma, and all that, even if you don’t know the person. But due to some reasons, its slipping away from us Nigerians, although its still prominent.

(other parts of Africa)**

@snow30 I do not do that. Haha! When I lived in Alabama, I had to say Yes Ma’am and No Sir at school but it was hard since I wasn’t used to it.

@lynkel Haha! its already stuck to my tongue. At the end of every statement i involuntary say Sir or Ma’am. Might be quite tough for me changing my tongue.

@snow30 I am sure everyone will understand. What is your favorite TV show? I am watching The Big Bang Theory now and loving it. It is so funny.

@lynkel We have this place in Nigeria, EducationUsa Advising Center(EAC), not sure if you have heard of it. Everyone keeps on greeting the Americans there and there expressions are priceless each time we greet. They find it amusing!

@lynkel I love Big Bang Theory too, Especially Sheldon. But i feel that they are loosing their touch, its not as funny as it was before, but still funny. My best show is Game of Thrones!

@snow30 I have never heard of EAC and I bet it is! I would love to see it as well. I really love Amy and I agree with you as well. I have never seen Game of Thrones.

@lynkel You should really try Game of Thrones! its nice. What is your best show by the way?

@snow30 probably Married by Mom and Dad or Child Genius. They are not popular shows, but I like them.

@lynkel hmmm, never heard of those. Comedies?
