*****Bates College Class of 2020 ED and RD Discussions*****

@snow30 What is the time difference between were you are and Bates? Do you think that will be hard to get used to?

@lynkel hmm i don’t know exactly what time zone Bates uses, but the time difference between my time zone and EST is +6hrs. It is currently 12:44 am almost 1 am. Well i’m not sure if it will hard to get used to the time difference, but if worst comes to worst, i will sleep it off on my first day.

@snow30 Wow, it is 6:50 PM here, so that is quite a difference.

@lynkel Yeah!

@snow30 Will you use a Mac or PC in college?

@lynkel a PC. You? and why?

@snow30 I’ll use a Mac. I don’t know, I’m bored and trying to think of conversation starters.

@lynkel Lool, Okay. What do you do during your free time.

@snow30 I don’t really have a lot of freetime because my cheering/academic schedule is so busy. But, I am a huge reader/writer of fiction. As a kid, I was OBSESSED with books and I still am, when I have time. You?

@lynkel well if am not taking online AP classes, i am either chatting and watching a movie/series/anime simultaneously, or i am playing soccer or video games. I only read one genre of novels which is (Greek) Fiction mythological novels, specifically Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson novels( I have no interest in other novels [-( ). That’s pretty much the overview of it.

novel*

@snow30 I take online AP classes too. AP Environmental Science, AP Microeconomics, and AP Human Geography are all online for me. Soccer is cool. And I read the Percy Jackson series too, they’re pretty good.

@lynkel I just recently started taking online AP’s on edX though. So for now it’s just Biology and Physics but i plan on enrolling for Calculus AB and maybe chemistry. Are you following the recently added Magnus chase and the God’s of Asgard series , Rick Riordan is really good. Tried reading from other authors but it just didn’t work out for me

@snow30 I take mine through Virtual High School. You sound like you really like STEM fields. I wish I was good at them/found them interesting. I like the humanities. I don’t follow the new series, I’ve been rereading the children’s series the Boxcar Children. And some people really just click with one author or another.

@lynkel for some reasons Biology is my best subject(maybe its the teacher), and trust me i hate physics(probably because my teacher wasn’t so good). I am taking AP physics because i have to and its probably going to be my major(i have always wanted to be an engineer) and i don’t want to get into college and feel like a “dummy” that’s left behind. :))

@lynkel is the Boxcar Children series at least a little bit mythological?

@snow30 History is mine, but I do while in Economics also. And I don’t think people would think that! Also, it is not in the slightest bit mythological. It is sort’ve realistic fiction. They are very simple books that depict the adventures of orphaned children.

@lynkel I have always hated anything related to history, right from primary school(what you might call middle school) It’s hard keeping up with dates and names and events! They get all scattered in my head. Also had really bad grades in them in primary school, didn’t even think twice about not taking when i had the chance to drop it in high school. I do well in Economics but i am indifferent about the subject.

I am going to play tennis and bates is pretty liberal

@snow30 I struggled in school until I was about 12 years old, and then suddenly something clicked and I excelled in classes. I hated math for the longest time, finally, I am growing to like it. I am not a fan of science though, biology in particular grosses me out. I have a weak stomach. Today we had a big snow storm and I’ve been stuck at home, and it has been incredibly boring. What is the weather like in Nigeria? I am guessing, hot?
