congratulation to all who got accepted!
Do you guys know if they accept deferred applicants in RD?
Any chance to hope?
any info regarding to their ED 1 pool and accepted studentsā numbers?
DS was accepted!
Congrats to all other Batesies!
Son was accepted!! Best of luck to everyone today!
Iām sure they accept some students who get deferred. Unfortunately you will just need to wait a while to find out. You will find out when the regular decisions are released. I donāt know any statistics to help you determine your odds.
Accepted!
My daughter was accepted!! Go, Bobcats!
@caefult Many years ago I got into a law school off the waitlist. I didnāt choose that school, but itās proof that it can happen. Good luck!!
For the boys out there or the parents with sons, I would really really appreciate stats if you donāt mind sharing. My son wants to apply ED2 but is only around 3.7 UW, 3.89 W, 5 APs, very competitive high school. CA kid. Asian American. Any insight would be truly very appreciated! Thank you and congrats to all who got in first round!
You may be able to infer GPA expectations based on high school class standing. According to its Common Data Set, Bates recently enrolled 60% of its class with students who placed in the top tenth of their high school classes, and 82% originating from the top quarter and 97% from the top half.
So my son isnāt in the top half maybe even but thatās bc his high school is very competitive. Does he have no chance?
This would seem to depend on whether your sonās school officially reports rank.
They do not report rank, but I think most schools donāt rank anymore. Bates common data set said only 21% report rank. The common data set does not list GPA ranges which is interesting. Iām also not sure how a school like Bates with an avg GPA of around 3.88 (according to the internet) will review/consider a 3.7.
As an opinion, I believe your son has a realistic chance of admission.
Thank you! We are meeting with his counselor soon to see what she thinks. The whole process can be so hard to decipher!
Moved all posts to this thread, Bates Early Decison.
Congratulations to those accepted in this ED round. To those deferred, donāt give up hope. Good luck!
Son was accepted ED. Good luck everyone!
My son was probably not in the top half of his very competitive private HS. Where he goes to school may matter.
Thank you! Assuming your son was accepted. What year?
