Are u ED or RD applicant?? Well, u certainly have a decent shot. As u say ur essay and recos may give u an advantage...just sit back and wait...Gud luck...

what would you recommend, ED or RD?
iam just a junior this year

and if i did send my apps for ED, and got rejected, am i moved on to the RD or completely rejected?

also, does anyone know any forensics scholarship at this school?

All Bates' aid is need-based, as in, no funds are awarded based on merits, such as forensics, gpa, debate, etc.

cokepsh, I'd be very surprised if you don't get in: you have great stats, and I think we have affirmative action for underrepresented states. So I imagine Admission's attitude will be, "The more Montana, the merrier!" And your essay sounds distinctive, which is great.

Good luck. I think you have an excellent chance.

thanks doubleplay, huge confidence booster! haha

anyone else?? comment please!!

and can anyone clarify what affirmative action is?

It's a emphemism that means "quota" It's a way of giving a boost to students in a designated ethnic, racial, or economic category (and those categories may vary, depending on the institution ) is order to meet institutional goals. The term is most frequently used in connection with racial minorites - particularly blacks and hispanics. One result of affirmative action policies is often that those admitted under them have lower objective criteria (i.e. grades and particularly standardized test scores) than the school average. In many respects, however, affirmative-action-like results also apply in college admissions to recruited athletes, legacies, and "development" cases (children of actual or potential large donors).

I think you will get in!

I also think if you really want Bates, you should go for ED. they have ED 1 and ED2 in feb. My daughter got in ED2. It looks like they take a huge percentage ED and that will increase your chances of getting in. You really need to have an interview and then visit the campus if you can. that will increase your chances significantly

Guilford in Greensboro, NC has a great forensics program.
