Bath Towels - tell me your favorites!

Our master bath towels are WAY beyond their life expectancy. I’m looking for bath towels that are absorbent, wear well, and aren’t scratchy. I don’t think I am asking a lot!

I have bought towels before that were nice and fluffy but felt like they just moved the water around on my skin (and I never use any type of fabric softener or dryer sheet). Others feel thin after only a few washings.

My favorite set was from our wedding almost 40 years ago, Charisma brand, the last one finally ripped a couple of years ago. I’ve been using some Lands End towels for the last few years that served me well, but I feel like LE quality has gone downhill a little.

Whatcha got to recommend?

I had Lands End towels I just donated to charity. They were way too thick and took forever to dry.

I love these:

Macys Hotel Collection when they are on sale. (Some are 50% off now)

Macy’s Hotel collection - the Turkish ones, IIRC.
I launder with very little soap, double rinse, and use white vinegar in one of the rinse cycles.

We have a towel warmer in our bathroom which helps them dry and keep the mustiness away.

Koolaburra by ugg. 100% cotton. They seem to me to be better at absorbing the moisture compared to other towels.

I have a tendency to just keep using anything that works for far longer than most civilized people would. I got to the point that even I thought my towels were bad enough that I needed new ones. I got a couple of different types (probably at Kohls). I liked the Koolaburra’s enough that I bought more and stopped using anything else.

Do they dry fast? That is my biggest issue in our small bathrooms with less than optimal ventilation.

Has anyone tried the SandCloud bath towels?

I can tell you…Lands End do NOT dry fast. Company Store towels do…and the things last a long time.

I’ve heard good things about the Hotel Collection but haven’t ever gotten their towels.

Darn auto correct!

I was wondering about the Sand Cloud towels.

I was already a huge fan of Matouk sheets and then I used their towels when we spent the weekend with friends. That’s when I started, bathroom by bathroom, switching over from the Macy’s Hotel towels I had been using. I do like the Hotel towels but these feel even better to me.

They happen to be 40% off at Bloomingdales this weekend so I will be getting some more. They aren’t normally discounted this much.

Charisma is a brand they sell at Costco. The fastest drying towels I have found are the microfiber towels that have a waffle look. They have some right now at Costco, I have also seen them at Home Goods, but it is hard to get a matching set there.

You have to like the “feel” of microfiber. So touch and see. It’s not my favorite.

I’ve been buying Mascioni Hotel Collection towels for years and will buy when they are on sale. They’re 100% turkish cotton and last forever. I only buy white towels. I can throw them in the wash, use bleach (because they are 100% cotton) and the result is great.

I also am someone who keeps towels way past their prime because to be honest, both H and prefer non-thick, absorbent towels that are worn and VERY well broken in, LOL. Thick and fluffy is not what I like. I do however have “nicer” towels for guests who come to stay.

I would like to try a thinner turkish bath towel. And to be honest, some of the most absorbent towels I’ve found are actually beach towels!

Will watch this thread with interest.

We’ve had our Matouk towels from Nordstrom since 2018… they were gorgeous and super soft and absorbent, but I will not be buying more. They shed fibers like crazy! Every time I dry them on gentle cycle, I get so much lint in the filter. And they are no longer as fluffy as they used to be. Some look like they lost 1/2 of their thickness m.

I’m sorry to hear that. It has not been the case for me and I’ve had my master bath towels since before Covid.

Ours are from Kohls, surprisingly good and not expensive. I’ll check tags later.

We had Costco Charisma. They were fine while they lasted, but seemed to become rags sooner than expected. Not sure if that was due to harsh washer (shared apartment laundry), so we purchased inexpensive Kohl’s as replacement, not wanting to ruin better towels. The Kohls (Big One) have lasted fine!

I also can’t recommend Costco Charisma towels. Became scratchy and worn quickly. Though not unexpected for the price.

We have older (y2k) Charisma from
Costco that are still fluffy and going strong, but the recent batch is not that great.

I have no idea. I have not noticed a problem, but then I have never compared their rate of drying to any other towels.

Now I am wondering how I could run an experiment.
