Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a research-oriented job in the Bay Area (CA).
It doesn't necessarily have to even be an internship, even volunteering is fine.
I'd like to pursue a biochemistry degree when I go to college.
I've also heard that many companies are especially enthusiastic about having females who are interested participate in activities like such.
Specifically, do you have any ideas in mind?
Thanks in advance!

(i'm in high school btw)

A research-oriented job is going to be very hard to comeby as a high school student. I think Stanford has some summer programs that might be what you are looking for, but I am not sure if it is too late to apply for it or not.

^Stanford has SIMR, the app closed a long time ago and interns have already been selected. UCB has a program as well, BLIPS, but that’s filled at this point.

Similarly, Kaiser and John Muir have both closed their summer intern applications, at least at the ones in Walnut Creek. You could check on this to make sure it’s closed everywhere.

You are very late in the game. You can try contacting professors and asking if you can assist in their lab. Be aware that THEY are helping YOU by mentoring you - there is a thread on how to go about emailing professors.

It is not small companies that are particularly excited about having females, but instead usually large ones with “women in science” initiatives. However, formal programs such as these will be closed up by now.

You could also try contacting smaller biotech companies. Be aware that you will most likely be a servant type intern at places like these - people are busy, they don’t have a lot of time to put into training a high school student.

Thanks!
I know I seem to be asking really late, but I’m looking for opportunities for next summer (not the upcoming one)
