Baylor Honor program for pre med

Hi,

Is it a good idea to do Honor program for pre med track? I have received a 4 year planner indicating that the course load for Fall semester should include :BIO 1305, the lab for this BIO class, Chem 1302, the lab for this chem class, Calculus I. Does anyone know if how BIO 1305 is compared to AP Biology at high school? Also, Chem 1302 compared to AP Chem in high school?

Since it will be a new place, I want to take some time to experience how Baylor is and may want to wait on applying to Honor program. I have heard that BIC takes a lot more time for reading and writing which I think may not be ideal for pre med student until I am sure I can handle it. What about the Honor Program? Is it ok to apply after freshman year?

Any advise will be appreciated?

i have the exact same question. i got into baylor honors and I’m doing pre med. i’m also in AP Bio and from what i gathered, it covers only some of college bio.

I don’t know if i’ll be much help because I transferred a lot of my classes in from another 4-year university, but I joined the honors program after my first semester and i felt like it was definitely worth it mostly because of the early registration. I’m really used to like research and stuff so the honors thesis is no problem for me, and that’s the part that gets students the most.

The honors program is definitely a lot of reading because you have to read a book over the summer and you have to take two semesters of Great Texts and sometimes an FYS that has a lot of reading in it. I know a lot of people that are in honors that have a 4.0 right now it just really depends on how studious you are and stuff.

I don’t know much about AP but I know you need a 5 on the AP test to transfer the credit for it, but I heard bio and chem here aren’t too bad. But theoretically the classes should match up but a lot of high school teachers just teach to the AP test.
