collegebound, check previous threads. You will find some that think it is too conservative, too Baptist, and they hate the town it is in. Others will concentrate on really nice facilities, very transparent merit aid policy, innovative honors programs, good looking happy kids, great pre-med acceptance rate. You need to do your due diligence.

For my two cents, the new administration will be far more like the administrations of old- that is , conservative but not as preachy or doctrinaire as the ousted immediate past president.

A child who desires countercultural pursuits, liberal politics, and resists all thing Christian would probably not fare that well. ( A gay, Green Party, pot-smoking Druid, with a propensity for visible body art would be a rarity.)Some see Baylor as hypocritical as there is certainly a drinking carousing segment of the student body . I don't see it that way . I think they market to the kids they want and clearly define who they are and what they expect as student conduct. They are not gay friendly and their written anti-discrimination policy does not protect gay rights nor is there a chartered GLBT club on campus.

FWIW, my daughter is a MOR Christian and tee-totaler (so far) who somewhat regularly spends time at Baylor. She loves the facilities, the professors and staff that she has contact with, and her friends that go there but wants a little bit more open, more socially challenging (but not too far out) enviroment for her college experience.
