BB Pg. 737 #15 Section 7

If the volume of a cube is 8, what is the shortest distance from the center of the cube to the base of the cube?

1
2
4
root2
2root2

I just don't understand..
Thanks in advance

The answer is 1 right?
You're given the volume, which tells you that each side has a length of 2. (2 cubed is equal to 8).

Now picture the cube in your mind or draw it out. The "center" of the cube is right in the middle of the cube. The height of the cube is 2 and thus, the shortest distance from the center to the base/bottom of the cube is 1.

Thats the correct answer.
I'll explain the other answers just so you can see how they got it.

2- the side of the cube
4- no clue
root2- half of the diagonal on a face of the cube
2root2-the diagonal on a face of the cube

^So, I can give you an incorrect answer and you'll explain it? Nice! :)

How about: 4*pi/3 ?
