I recently got accepted to the mathematics program under the EA plan, and I am thrilled about that. However, my family’s main concern now is getting the proper financial aid. I typed in all of my data into their financial aid estimator and it was affordable for my family. It expected me to take on about 10K in loans a year and my family would pay 10k. If it helps answer the question, my family income is 80k a year. However, we have about 200k in real estate and owe 60k on it.
So, what I’m wondering is: How accurate is the financial aid estimator on their website? I would appreciate it if any past people who have received aid can tell me how it reflects their estimate. Even if you didn’t do the estimate yet, it is still available online.
Thanks!
Congrats on your acceptance, Hudson.
Unfortunately, every family situation is different, from owning small businesses, to holding rental property, to having multiple kids in college at one time. Thus, every financial aid package is different. So, you’ll just have to wait for the official finaid award.
BC is a wonderful collegiate experience; hopefully, it will be affordable for your family. Good luck.
I have the same problem. I’m not going to BC if I can’t get a decent enough amount of money offered. My family income is abt 110k and I’m really scared that I’m not going to get much. My sister is currently at the URochester and we pay a lot for her.
I will be very surprised if their net price calculator included $10k in loans. I think they will have $3.5k in loans and $2.5k in work study. Now you may need to take out $10k in loans to meet their EFC requirements because their EFC is high, but that is a different statement.
@hudsonators How did everything work out with BC?
