To Reddune:

That site is pretty accurate with BusinessWeek

It had the median starting salary at $51,000

BW said $50,000

???

I'm not understanding the major difference you're referring to

To metsfan2121:

I am a Yankee hater as well. So I will fit right in. But then again, I am a NY Giants fan as well. I'm sure they hate the Giants right now more than the Yankees. So maybe not.

To ngkelvinsk:

What about I-banking appeals to you?

100 hour work weeks, lack of sleep, zero free time, stress, lack of food, lack of life.

I don't get it - no offense

success, money, chance of striking big early on in life, exciting lifestyle..... relatively early retirement. But imo that it sux if there is a recession. But then that is the period when i get my rest! haha....

What major difference was I referring too? I remember saying, "at least not as close to the what BC found in its internal study in 2006." I didn't imply there was a "major difference."

Doesn't "not as close" mean it's a lot different?

Nope. It means "not as close."

But in your opinion, doesn't the starting salary still seem low, relative to how prestigious and highly ranked BC is?

It depends on the field that you are interested in. Take for example, a school that concentrates purely on accountant. Accountant is highly lucrative in the short and mid-range term. But no one becomes a multi-millionaire doing accountant alone. The median salary of a school that is graduating very high number of accountants will have very high median salary. But students graduate from marketing of the same school might be very far below the median salary. A school like BC has diverse fields of study, Some will be higher and some will be lower. BC's strongest point is finance. You have to look at your major and see what is their respective salary. I remember you talked about finance as a possibility (I could remember wrong here). The average salary for a graduate of finance ($70,000) at BC is much much higher than the 75th percentile of the overall school, while that of an entering management trainee is not. So you have to examine the salary of each school's department or major instead of just the overall school.

Ok thanks for clearing that up

Yes, finance will be my major

If I wanted to do accounting, I would go to Lehigh (since Lehigh is the top accounting business school)

Lehigh's finance is good, but not as good as BC

and when u graduate as a finance major you will probably get a i-banking job =)
