What are the differences b/w BC and BU? I know that BC is academically better than BU and BC is a small catholic school, and BU has higher acceptance rates. Whatelse? Where would you go if you get admitted to the both?

BC is actually not in Boston, it's in a place called Chestnut Hill, basically right in the town of Newton, MA. So it's a bit more suburban than BU. BC actually has a campus, whereas BU is right in the heart of Bosotn

BU is also about twice as big as BC, with 18,000 undergrads as opposed to 9,000 for BC. I'd probably go to BC over BU.

Boston University is not in the heart of Boston, more live sandwich between to highways on the outskirts of the city. Great school but very small, compact, and unsightly campus. I'd suggest all perspective BU applicants visit before applying to see if they want to live there. Boston has doxens of wonderful academic programs, but not all are neccesarily places you want to live for the next four years.

My choice would be Boston College, hands down, then I'd probably take Northeastern or Tufts over BU.

Please search for this kind of topic - there are tons of threads covering this.

Do you know what you want your major to be yet?

BC may be a little better academically than BU, but if you want to major in something like communications, BU is much better than BC.

I love BU, but I've never visited BC. I did get accepted to BU Early Decsion and will be attending there next year. As for "Is BU in the heart of Boston?", it's not right in the middle of the city, but the campus is very lengthy - almost a mile and a half long. The east side of campus is practically in Kenore Square and that part looks like you are right in the middle of the city. Oh yeah, Fenway Park is right there. The west side of campus is further away from the middle of Boston and is on the outside of the city. A smaller town, Brookline, begins just after BU ends to hte west.

Agree with above poster, I can't even count the many threads with the "BU vs. BC" issue. I think one's titled Boston area schools.

BU is far overhyped, in my opinion. BC has much better name recognition, and has a beautiful campus within a gorgeous suburb that is extremely close ot Boston.
