Hello everyone,

I’m a friend of DS52262. He referred me to this site and I’ve noticed that some parents are still looking for their kids’ infos. Also, a lot of the answers I’ve seen here are misleading. I’m working 2nd BCT this summer and I have the current basics list. I’ll also try to answer any Academy/BCT/4DigYr questions you guys might have by checking back on this thread often.

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July. Don’t forget to write your cadets, those letters are lifesavers!

Well, you can check the ongoing summary list of BCT Squadrons' names/numbers (on the other Thread) and confirm we've heard the right #'s from our kids! :) Knowing the colors for each squad would be good too (re the lanyard's they're wearing) as they help us distinguish which AOG / WebGuy photos we should be looking at in detail...

I checked all of 'em from that thread with full names (instead of online sigs) and they seem to be correct. I'm on my way to visit a basic, I'll talk to some of the cadres and see if I can get a list of all the colors with their respective squads.

Duckie - are you Sara's sponsor (L) by any chance? Got a nice email from her folks saying you were going to look in on her (and my son Mike). Thanks for the offer :)

Yes that's me. As I'm sure D told you since I emailed him already, I met Sara and Mike last night. They both smiled when I told them why I was visiting, and said it was tough but they're doing fine. That was good to hear since the screaming and "beating" began couple days ago. I'm going to be a cadre for Aggressors for 2nd BCT so I'll continue to check in on them.

I also spoke to a friend who's on BCT Group Staff yesterday and he said the lanyard colors were changed from last year so he's trying to get me the official list. I'll post it as soon as I know it's the correct info.

Here are the lanyard colors, they're verified to be 100% correct and I matched the colors on the swatch so you can find your kids.

Aggressors -- Teal Bluish-Green
Barbarians -- Orange
Cobras -- Purple
Demons -- Green
Executioners -- Dark Royal Blue
Flying Tigers -- Red
Guts -- Maroon
Hellcats -- Yellow
Interceptors -- White
Jaguars -- Turquiose Blue

duckphreak I think you just made all the parents day. :)

Duckphreak - are you totally sure of those colors? I have photo's of my D in what I call Royal Blue (and I have seen the lighter turquoise blue in photos, but not on her) and I am told she is in Jaguars. Her B&B host mom checked her unit info for me and confirms she is Jaguars and when we see them in formation on some of the early webguy photos they are next to the "J" which I believed referenced Jaguars.

Thanks Duck. Webguy had also been putting together a list of colors but he was thinking Barbarians was tan but I have a clear photo of my son in the orange lanyard - and that agrees with your list. UPDATE: Just re-checked Webguys' site and he has corrected that problem AND has provided up-close photos of each lanyard. Here's the link;

Looks like he calls the Jag's color "Bright Blue" but heck, you got the font color perfect!

So Duckie - I understand that you're going to be a cadre for Jacks? Good luck out there and thanks again for helping us all out.

DKnightfam

PS: Mike's rifle coach emailed us some photos directly and yes, he was smiling then too!

What is the date of BCT Graduation?

Wednesday, 8 August, is the date of the Acceptance Day Parade.

That is a day to remember! I remember the pride and the happiness as we marched to the wing (3 times more than us!). Great feeling!

So do cadets have much time to spend with family who comes to watch this? I've heard they do and I've heard they don't... I want to go watch it, but I don't want to go if I'm not going to be able to spend any time with my cadet.

A few hours at best. Parent's weekend is the first real time you can have to spend with her.

MomofHopeful2011, if you PM me your daughter's full name, I'll check my basics list and confirm it's her. She's probably in Jaguars, the pictures aren't always consistent with the colors I see on lanyards in person. Where in NorCal are you guys? I've lived all over NorCal.

Dknightfam, Mike didn't tell me he was recruited for Rifle Team. My freshmen year roommate is on the team also. Was it Coach Roy that emailed you?

cinnamon_life, as hornetguy said, you'll probably get to see your cadets for only a few hours, if that. With the Acceptance Day being so close to Parents Wknd, I would suggest that you wait 'til then. It's a lot easier for parents to see their kids once they've settled into their squadron, rather than right after Basic when they're still getting yelled at and are confused. Also, they'll be swamped with a lot of errands they need to accomplish before the school year starts.

duckphreak- If you can will you check on my daughters squadron? Her full name is Kelcie Lea Meineke. I thought she was in the GUTS squadron, but now I'm thinking Barbarians??? Thanks-Susan

Hi Susan,

Your daughter Kelcie is in Barbarians C Flight, which means she'll be in CS-07 for the Academic Year.

Wow, Barbarians parents are really representing on this forum. :) There's Sara and Mike, now Kelcie, and two other parents that PM'd me were all Barbarians. I'd like to see some Aggressors ;) But then again, all of the kids from Squadrons 1 through 10 will be sick of my name by the end of 1st semester :D

Group Staff I assume then? No barbarians A-FLT though....so sad.

Barbarians are awesome though, no denying it! :)

hornetguy, are you coming from or going into 5?

As for everyone else, this will be my last post. Apparently there's some problems with me helping others, so I'm going to stop posting in threads and will only communicate by PMs. I admire all of you for how much you support your kids. I wish you the best of luck! :)

I'm going from 5 to 10.
