Hello, everyone. Trying to decide on a major at the moment, unfortunately, my greater interests sadly do not captivate the employers as much as they do to me.

So, I'm willing to expand my interests a bit to find something that would bring me something lucrative and not at egregious risk for employment in something that a high school diploma alone would suffice.

Global Business: is it the smart decision? Or is it not the basket where you would like to place your eggs?

If you want to go into international business, an alternative would be to major in a foreign language, area studies, or international relations. You could combine one of these majors with a minor in finance or accounting. You also could major in economics and minor in a language or area studies. Some such combination might be more widely available than an international business program at the undergraduate level. You could get an international MBA later, after you’ve worked for a couple years.

I actually initially wanted to be a foreign language major, but figured that majoring in Global Business with a language minor would be the better decision.

I suppose International Business is not a good major, you’re telling me?

Here is a sample experience of someone I know who actually works in international business: majored in PoliSci (concentration in Latin America), took Spanish and Portuguese while in college, got a job working for a company that imports tropical commodities to the US and trades in futures of those commodities.

If you can find some good matches for that major, then look into those schools. I’m not a big believer in “good majors” or “bad majors”. Engineering, glass blowing, art history, or physics could all be good majors or bad majors. It depends on the person and the school.

Right. This can be a good major. It only makes sense that int’l bus. In this day and age makes a good major. But u need to have a passion for it and excel (like any major). My strong advise is that you show quant skills by taking and doing well (ie learning) finance, accounting and stat skills as well.
