I really hate my current school ( Bryn Mawr) and want to try to transfer to Davidson but have a 3.0, 2050 SATs and ethnic clubs and indoor track as my ecs....even with good essays and recs is this a complete waste of time????????????

if you really aren’t having a good time at bryn mawr, you should apply to transfer. consider applying to a few other schools in addition to davidson to improve your chances of getting in somewhere. grades are important, but so is presenting your case on why you want to transfer. if you have really good reasons and convictions about transferring, give it a shot.

arent SAT scores just “considered,” as opposed to “very important” (at davidson)? If so, then i think you would have a hard time getting in.

The 2050 is not very high–it averages out to less than 700 per test; the 3.0 GPA is okay but again, not more than good. It is never a waste of time to try for something you really want but in my experience students who are looking to transfer laterally or up from their first-year college usually do so successfully with stellar college grades. So you might also want to think about doing way better academically next year and also trying to get more positively involved at Bryn Mawr to see if greater involvement will make you like it better. That way, if this year’s transfer does not work out you might either have a better shot next year or just not want to transfer anymore.

If you hate your current schools and must get out, then apply to less selective places you can actually get in and, if you’d like, also throw up a hail mary to davidson.
