Be honest: What major(s) do you not take seriously?

Seconded. So did I and it came out just fine ;)

Maybe that’s because everybody knows we should take something seriously when it’s protected by the first amendment.

hopefully nothing to do with logic like culinary arts.

I was going to guess “pickle sorter.” :(

Typically a language major consists of learning about the culture and history where the particular language comes from–or at least at my school it does–which can make a person majoring in it very valuable, depending on the demand for the language(i.e. arabic or mandarin). That being said, I do not believe any one language major can “stand alone” without a second major. At my school, a language major is usually coupled with a major in International Relations, Economics, Poli Sci, or History.

Edit: Most useless major, IMO, is Hospitality Management–only because of how narrowly focused it is and is almost entirely a job preparation major. It just doesn’t seem like a well rounded education.

Engineering or CS is my guess.

‘Maybe that’s because everybody knows we should take something seriously when it’s protected by the first amendment.’

Nah, I wish we were more like China. jk.
You don’t have to major in Journalism to become a journalist. From what I understand, it’s preferred that you major in something else so you can have a strong knowledge base to write about politics, or science or whatever. So, that’s why I don’t take it seriously.

Plus, let’s be honest, it’s a dying industry.

On another note, I would take an Arabic major pretty seriously. Not only is it a difficult language, there are good jobs out there for knowing it.

and and, my guess is math.

“On another note, I would take an Arabic major pretty seriously. Not only is it a difficult language, there are good jobs out there for knowing it.”

:)

I respect your determination to defend, but really?
Everyone learned the scientific method in 7th grade. I’m not even kidding.

Oh well, at least parapsychologists can catch the boogie monster so I can sleep well at night.
And we’re all just answering the original question… “what major do you not take seriously?”
It’s an opinion, not a debate.

People who major in math/science are intelligent. People who major in any of the liberal arts are semi-■■■■■■■■ and/or lazy. End thread.

I’m glad somebody got this. Just because superxCool_fingerpoker2001 doesn’t like a major doesn’t mean their opinion is fact.
I doubt anyone here is going to walk away and enlightened and with a changed opinion from this “debate.”

It was supposed to all be in fun and, like some majors, not taken seriously.

I don’t think anyone was taking this seriously anyway.

SuperxCool_fingerpoker2001 eats sardines for breakfast and therefore, his opinion doesn’t matter.

His opinion does matter and sardines are a delicacy.

No.

Not everyone wants a well-rounded education.

1/2 credit. I’m doing a double major.

Poor nonexistent poster, he has no way to make a rebuttal because he can’t exist. :(

SuperxCool_fingerpoker2001 can’t exist because thats way too many characters to make a username. Therefore he really doesn’t matter. :D

Dance, only 2 careers. Dance teacher, or do little shows until you’re 29 and outdated.
women’s studies (seriously, what do you do with it?)

He just called your friend imaginary!

I think the point is to make a lot of money and retire early. Probably hypercompetitive.

Study sexism.

He does exist in the little dark corner in my head.
Now where’s that creepy green smiley?
