Be honest..who's in it for the money?

Be honest, people-all this talk about where to go and what to do-what is everyone's driving force here? Money, glory, fame, happiness, progress, boredom? how many of you really want it just for the money?

Pride and taking advantage of what's available to me. Why waste potential?

Money and knowledge.

I think as we've grown up through the school system, we've been corrupted. I know 100% I used to love to learn for learning's sake. Now I learn due to external motivation -> money, recognition, prestige, etc.

Money, recognition and the opportunity to have an insane social life.

im in it for two things...money and prestige

money and success, but believe it or not, i do love learning. to learn stuff just gives me a wonderful sense of cleverness and power. who else feels this way?

oh yeah, and that great feeling for when u've acheived something. i mean, even if i were guaranteed a great future, i'd work hard anyway, because it just feels so good.

"Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today."

I AM IN IT FOR THE BIG $$$$$$ AND POWER! My name is Justinian I, king of kings, look on my works ye weak and despair. HA HA HA!

the ironic thing is most of you will never achieve a really high level of money + power.

*"So you think that money is the root of all evil? Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can't exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil?

When you accept money in payment for your effort, you do so only on the conviction that you will exchange it for the product of the effort of others. It is not the moochers or the looters who give value to money. Not an ocean of tears not all the guns in the world can transform those pieces of paper in your wallet into the bread you will need to survive tomorrow. Those pieces of paper, which should have been gold, are a token of honor—your claim upon the energy of the men who produce. Your wallet is your statement of hope that somewhere in the world around you there are men who will not default on that moral principle which is the root of money, Is this what you consider evil?

.....Run for your life from any man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter. So long as men live together on earth and need means to deal with one another—their only substitute, if they abandon money, is the muzzle of a gun." *

Ayn Rand

Donald Trump says to shoot high and achieve your goals. Those who criticize the dreams of others will probably be working at McDonalds for their career.

Success is a driving factor, yes, but I truly do like learning, helping people, and being a good person.

I am going into engineering because I want to be able to fix everything around the house, be able to work building walls for my landscaping company, and then hopefully design helicopters. My dream is to build one. Money is overrated.

They say money does not buy happiness. Well, I see affluent people often, and they seem quite elated!

I personally am doing it because I have to. I feel in a strange way that its either I put in this effort or some horrible will happen.

And the little fight about money. Let me just say...MONEY IS GOD IN THE USA! We live in a capitalist country. With money you can get anything (including happiness)

Money will never buy you happiness.

And poverty will?

I don't know.. not so much money-- I rarely think about it, to be honest. I think a lot more is learning as much as I can, becoming an "educated" and "intellectual" person (I know that sounds somewhat conceited, but I really admire intellectual people), and doing my absolute best- I think I'd feel like I'd cheated myself if I didn't work to my full potential and to everything to the best of my ability. I do have a lot of 'pride' I guess, (though not in a bad way I hope!) Yes, I acknowledge the 'prestige' factor as a fairly big force, but money.. meh, not so much... more just the pursuit of intellect and happiness :)

(of course, that's not to say I wouldn't LIKE to be rich, but it's not something I think about... I figure if I work hard and do what I love, I'll make a comfortable living and live life to its fullest :))
