I have a spot in the living room perfect for a bean bag or a chair with a low back support. A regular chair won’t look right. Never had a bean bag. Are they comfortable to sit on?
Mine works perfectly adjacent to my lava lamp and black light poster.
I’ve only found them comfortable for brief periods, and getting out of them is not so easy.
The only people I know who really liked bean bag chairs were college students in their dorm rooms.
They might work well in a recreation room or maybe a family room, or a kid’s bedroom, but I don’t think I would put one in my LR.
Did they come out with a new design?
Got one, never used it, and finally gave it away to a thrift shop as no one I knew would take it.
Who is this directed to and what do you mean?
There are plenty of adult bean bag designs. Here’s one example:

Sorry but that just looks like a bigger version of the chair I had in college. If it fits the decor of your house and you will use it yourself, go for it.
I do need to say…it doesn’t look small. I’ve seen regular chairs with a smaller footprint.
They work if you want to sit in front of the TV to game or you occasionally want another "kinda seat " for a card game at the coffee table, etc. Imho, they aren’t great seating - there’s just not enough support anywhere. But they are a good alternative to a hard floor.
Not for us to judge the styling of another’s home and what they choose to use. Poster asked a question and I think that it’s up to them do decide if style or comfort - or both - is their priority.
You can spend a little or a lot.

I got my kids some cheap ones from Target when they were little. When they got tired of it I gave one to our 60lb dog who loved it. She used it all the time, though and over time the little styrofoam pellets did flatten out and it got kinda sad. All that to say if you wanna get one you might want to research the innards. I’m not sure what lasts the longest.
We used to have one and I loved it. It met my comfort needs and it was fantastic for naps.
Ours had a cloth cover but I do not remember the brand. It was just a big roundish bag. If it wasn’t for some serious cat internal issues we would still have it. I used it a ton.
There is one of these stores in our mall. They are crazy busy and people seem to love them. I personally think the Zoola Max looks pretty cool.
I want to add that I like the look of low simple furniture!
I figured this was a “Should I get my kid a bean bag for her dorm room?” question. For dorm rooms, it’s cheap, flexible, easy to transport furniture for 20 yr olds to flop down on. After college? Nope.
BTW, thanks for the idea for the dog. College grad brought home a bean bag that I was gonna try to throw out somehow. Now I will make sure it’s sealed up, and give it to DD (meaning Dear Dog) for an extra bed somewhere in the house!
This company is great. Was on Shark Tank. We’ve ordered 3 over the years for our upstairs bonus room area. They are fun!
I saw that episode, great idea!
They sell refills.
Yeah, I just didn’t think it was worth it for the dawg. They also use other fillings that might last longer.
