Hey guys, so my roommate and I want a chair or something for our dorm room. Our room isn't that big, and our beds are kind of in an "L" shape with open floor space when you first walk in.

Can anyone recommend a chair or futon or something to us? I was thinking maybe of one of those tiny couches for kids that fold out into "beds" that we could kind of chill on and shove under my bed when we're not using. My roommate was thinking maybe of a futon or one of those chairs that's like a circle or whatever.

What do you think? If you have a chair, what kind do you have and do you like it?

We have one of those circular lounge chairs, which we really like, and a whole slew of floor pillows. I wanted to have lots of seating because I like to have guests but hate having guests sitting on my bed, and the floor pillows are cheap and many of them will fit stuffed under a bed. If you can FIT a futon those are awesome for dorms because they can provide a comfortable place to sleep for overnight guests or a fun place to study, I’d like one and our room is big enough but I don’t think the configuration would work. I’ve never seen a couch tiny enough to be shoved under a bed, of the two I’d prefer a futon but if the tiny couch is cheaper or more convenient for the size of your room maybe that would be better. It really just depends on your purposes-- a round lounge chair is great for sitting and reading or to seat one guest and doesn’t take up much space, a couch or futon takes up more space but can fit many, and floor pillows take up virtually no space and can seat many-- but some people don’t like the idea of offering nothing but pillows to sit on, though personally I think my floor pillows are more comfortable than any of the rest of our furniture. There’s also always bean bag chairs and ottomans. You’ve got LOTS of options and what would be best depends on how much room you have, how much you want to spend, and what you’ll use it for.
