Is it necessary or even worth it to download/install the bear access software package? Or is it better to just access uportal and email through the web?

Also, I have a mac and what really sucks is that I can't fully log out of my webmail or uportal accounts without fully quitting Firefox. Is there any way to rememdy this? Thanks.

download the bear access thing so you can do CoursEnroll and all of that jazz.

can't I do CoursEnroll online when the time comes? or not?
cuz it seems like the Bear Access package comes with alotta crap I don't need. I could be wrong though.

The main portion of BA is the runway thing with "just the facts" that you use to enroll and check grades and such. Eudora is popular but I just use webmail/uportal anyway, that way I can access my mail anywhere and the messages are kept on the server. Also I think you get a copy of some antivirus software or something. You cannot do coursenroll any other way than through BA, at least last i checked.

right, when it comes time for coursenroll, just the facts on Uportal closes down and you have to use the installed version.

I downloaded the BA onto my mac but when I try to access JTF and other things it asks me for my pass to kerebos. I tried using my netID and password but no luck. Maybe I have to be connected to the Cornell server or something

it should be your NET-ID password. I could log on from my Ithaca apartment, might want to contact CIT sometime just to be sure

Bear Access is pretty necessary and it's better to get it set up when you have time than scramble to get it ready for CoursEnroll. As for Eudora, I hated it, so I bought Office and use Outlook. Using IMAP instead of POP3 allows you to leave messages on the server so you can check them at the library using Webmail. (I'm not a big uportal fan--overloaded with features I don't need. Webmail is faster and less cluttered.)

you absolutely need to download Bear Access. For course enroll, add/drop, and, if you have a campus job ColtsII

I use outlook instead of eudora though.
