Hi there! The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in LA is my dream school. I should obviously be looking into back up schools, but no other place interests me. If you know any schools that offer that same program please let me know! I’ve spoked to a few reps at college conventions and I’m waiting for someone to call me from admissions to help, but i need a realistic view now! Im just too excited! I would be applying for early admission this year as a junior.
9-11(Semester 1 of grade 11 only) grade GPA (Weighted): 3.4
9-11(Semester 1 of grade 11 only) grade GPA (Unweighted): 3.3
8 semesters of honors, 3 semesters of AP, 17 credits
Clubs: Interact (Dedicated to volunteering), DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), FCCLA (Family, Community and Carrier Leaders of America), Fashion club, Latinos Unidos (Spreads the diversity of the Latinos).
Leadership position:1 year presidency of FCCLA, and 1 year as the fashion club vice president
Im not sure if it helps, but i have a countless number of community service hour that i can log from the start of freshman year.
So does anyone think i have a chance of getting in threw their early admission program for juniors?
Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you!
I hate to break it to you but it is one of the dread “for profit” schools we preach against on this forum. They will usually admit anyone with a pulse and the tuition or who has parents willing to borrow the tuition money. You have a valid career interest and I know my state has a couple of schools with the major. Do you want to be a merchandizer or designer? What is your home state? Usually in state publics are most affordable. I did a quick google and this is the annual cost; buried in their site:
Students Living Away from Home
Tuition & Fees $30,955
Room/Board $14,148
Transportation $1,692
Miscellaneous $2,907
Total* $49,702
Are your parents going to pay $200k for college? Each $100k you borrow is $1,000 a month for ten years. A student can only borrow $5500 on her own; her parents must cosign to borrow more money. If you drop out of a for profit your credits are usually not transferable to a university.
If it’s really about wanting to live in L.A. you can get a degree somewhere that will allow you to visit while in school and move there when you graduate. Honestly it’s a job where you don’t want $2,000 a month loan payments. I was a department store buyer a long time ago and the pay isn’t that great.
I hope you aren’t too angry but please don’t make an expensive mistake. If you come here with some test scores, the state you reside in and the amount of money your parents can pay, we’ll have lots of ideas. You have a whole year to find a great place.
You need an expensive degree to be an Avon lady?
I understand that a lot of people don’t like idea of a fashion school, but its all I want to do. I am fortunate enough that I won’t need to take out any loans. I thank that you are trying to “help” me, but i only asked one question…
&I want to do merchandising, I live in AZ
The school is so low it is listed as “not ranked” by USN&WR. There’s your clue.
The legitimate fashion schools are Pratt, FIT and Parsons. How’d you do on the SAT?
