Because ____. Is this a don't?

in an essay, is it appropriate to begin a sentence with ‘Because’? I am tired of using ‘Since’ multiple times, and ‘Because’ doesn’t sound bad when reading aloud, but I’m concerned with how it looks on paper and whether those reading the essay will think it’s poor grammar on my part. input?

Why don't you use "Therefore"?

i'm starting a sentence with a cause: 'because of this reason,' then an effect, 'this will happen.' therefore wouldn't work here. thanks for the suggestion, though :)
btw- i've used since, for this reason, for, as, considering . . . but all these don't sound as good as 'because' and repeating the others is getting, well, repetitive :(

You can start the sentence with "If" ..kind of like the standard hypothesis. Ex: If the temperature drops, there an increased percentage of snow happening. (Bad hypothesis, but you get what I'm saying). Or you can use the "either" "or" format. I'm not good at identifying grammer without seeing the real sentence, I'm better at editing it and actually seeing the sentences and changing it.

It is perfectly acceptable to use "because" in the way you seem to be describing. A sentance like "Because it rained, we all went inside" is just fine.
