I’m a high school senior and my goal is to become a veterinarian. I got accepted into Becker College’s pre-vet program, but now I’m worried how good this program actually is. The graduation rate isn’t high at all, I think it’s like 30% of students graduate in 4 years. However, there is an on-campus veterinary clinic that would be great to get hours in and help me learn. Basically, my only problem is wondering if it’s a good enough program to move all the way across the country to attend ( I live in CA). I am waiting to hear back from Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly SLO( under the animal science major) but till then Becker is still an option. Any advice would be helpful!
Go where you will have the least debt and the best grades. Those and animal experience are what matter to get into vet school. Vet school is VERY expensive and UCDavis is your in-state which is great but the most difficult to get into. If you go OOS it will be at least $200,000 and probably a lot more for the four years. Wherever you go you need to keep the debt down and really work hard on the grades. My son is animal science (pre-vet track). Every vet school he has visited has said the same thing. They aren’t as concerned with what school you went to but what your grades were and what kind of animal experience you have. Good luck!
Thanks momocarly! That really helps
