Anyone know how to become more focused? When I work on the SAT, my mind wanders all the time and I just become tired and not feel like doing it and end up doing worse. However, the times I am focused or have adrenaline pumping I dominate the SAT. How do I constantly stay focused? Thanks.

Try leaning over the test and following words with your eraser. Immerse yourself.

I dunno really. It's all in your head, so it's up to you to try harder.

Thanks for the reply! Nice I will have to try that method, sounds like CR reading will be easier now.

Try chewing gum. It helps some people focus.

Get into it. Especially on the CR passages, tell yourself that this is interesting. In math and writing, just feel confident about yourself and have an ambitious mentality when taking the test.

Less idealistically...
-Don't watch TV, sit on the computer, or enjoy any other type of entertainment before taking the test.
-Don't starve, but also don't fill yourself up with food/drinks
-Take your test in a quiet room with a chair and a table and get used to this way of test-taking
-The SAT is a lot of reading, so for a long-term situation, read, read, READ!
-Ok this might seem weird, but it helps me focus on studying: Take a shower (preferably a cold one), apply lotion on your face and arms, and trust me, that fresh feeling will really keep you focused on the first thing you set your eyes on. Works for me :)

Haha. Last suggestion sounds interesting, I will have to try it!

lol I'm definitely trying the last suggestion just for kicks! What kind of lotion is best?? ;P

^ natural man-cream lotion.

Uhh well moisturizing lotion is good. I got Vaseline moisturizing herbal lotion or something. But one of those moisturizing ones always works to freshen things up.

yeah, i've had this problem too... especially on the long passages of CR, idk, sometimes i just can't take it. if you find that your not focusing, maybe you should take a break. i know it sounds stupid, but really, it works.

lmao, about the shower suggestion.

Maybe you should try mint lotion! It will give you a tingling sensation all over.

Also if you lean forward in your chair very aggressively, it has been proven psychologically that it will help your improve concentration.

have a pencil in your hand at all times
aka the active pencil :)

Maybe read a book to prepare for studying. Never do something "fun" before you study, really kills the mood. Also, try to eat a banana!

ugh...ima go puke now...

oh what the hell,if you can't concentrate then do this: tell yourself,"IF I AM NOT GOING TO STUDY,THEN I AM GOING TO GET MY ASS KICKED BY SOME STUPID SAT WRITERS,AND THAT'S GOING TO HURT MY FUTURE"
