Hmm, we were dining out multiple times/day and definitely multiple times/week — now maybe takeout once/week and dining out maybe once or twice/month and mostly outdoors
We’re flying 30,000 miles/yr and haven’t flown since 2019—no travel.
We’re going to grocery store every other day now maybe once/week with masking and only take 15-30 minutes max.
Were gathering with extended family several times/month, now have had two large family gatherings since covid, both memorials for my dad who died 2/2020.
Only saw kids for weeks every holiday over past decade, with covid had both kids visit together for about a year—very special time.
Used to have in person meetings now only zoom and don’t drive or fly to meetings for over 18 months
Used to have haircuts via hairdresser who came to our home every 4-8 weeks; have had 2 haircuts since covid—1 by D and 1 at Supercuts type place.
Used to get an infection 1-6x every year without fail—since covid haven’t had any!
This is a good one- apparently I snacked and impulsively would buy food more than I realized. Lost the weight and then some I had been trying to forever. Kept the exercise up the same as before covid- walks and weight lifting. It was a decent amount. I started in Nov 2019 then covid hit.
Oh yeah, H and I both lost the 10 pounds we each wanted to lose, have kept them off and started working out with a physical therapist.
I’ve been cooking at home a ton more and we’ve saved a lot of money we haven’t spent on dining out.
Also, my family all takes turns caring for my mom instead of visits from time to time. Mom has never lived alone and is not comfortable being alone. I see my sibs individually more now when we are trading mom off. We also have a family thread where we share info and jokes and messages related to mom or whatever—never did pre-covid.
Before Covid: I got my hair cut every five weeks. Since Covid: I have had it cut twice.
Before: Went to dinner inside a restaurant every Friday, followed by a comedy show in a packed, low-ceilinged basement club. Since: We recently started going to comedy shows again, but only on Thursday nights (really small crowds) & in a large venue with high ceilings and good airflow. (Bonus: Dave Coulier has appeared there twice in the past month to try out new material for an upcoming comedy special.)
Before: Got sick once or twice a year. Since: Not even a sniffle.
Before: Wore foundation every day. Since: Wear foundation very, very rarely. The world is stuck with me as I am, for the most part.
Before: Seemed to have things to do enough so that I didn’t walk every day. Since: I have no excuse not to walk an hour a day.
Before: Not sure what I spent money on. Since: Decreased monthly expenses a lot!
