If I get in, I will SIR asap and then book a flight to Oakland from Southwest! (I<3Southwest!) I need to get apartment hunting FAST!

If I don’t get in, I will SIR asap to UCLA…thankfully FA gave me pretty much a full ride (B&G doesn’t show up, but I qualify, so everything will be covered)so I’ll do the housing application and hope for the best! I don’t even have to pay the deposit! ^__^

I can only imagine the threads that will be made on Thursday, hahaha!

I’m a Fall 2010 transfer and this year I had my heart set on Claremont McKenna College and the small, liberal arts college experience over a large university. However, it didn’t stop me from applying to UCs and since I’ve been accepted to UCLA I’ve become increasingly convinced that I’d rather go to a university. I’m torn between UCLA and Cal though (pretty sure I’ll be accepted). I’m an English major, and as pointed out by vintij, academically the universities are comparable. From what I understand the same goes for Bus Econ. In high school I would have given everything to go to Cal, but since then I’ve become much closer with my family and now have a boyfriend, so staying in Southern California (I’m in Orange County) has become much more appealing than moving up North. I agree with some of the previous posts, make the decision based on the all-around package of the campus rather than merely the academics.

I mean, it’d probably be easy for me to make the decision if I was actually able to visit Berkeley. I live so far though, and I don’t even see how visiting is a possibility!

UCLA has become more tempting to me recently. The completely new experience that living in LA would be for me, the quarter system, the better selection of minors (IMO), the possibility of a cheaper university housing option…

Still, I will probably go to Cal if I get in. It’s way closer to my family (a two hour drive or less), which is important to me. It’s hard to argue with the #1 English department ranking because that’s my major, even though UCLA is strong in that area as well. And I’m way more into the NorCal vibe. I’m not going to send my SIR right away, but my decision is leaning toward it.
