My mother is hell bent on putting an article in the paper about me. I got accepted to this summer program and she thinks it's like I'm some genius now. I don't think it's that big of a deal and I think it's kind of embarrassing. I don't want everyone to know my business. Should I let her put it in the paper when I'm gone or should I put my foot down and not let her do it? Would you care/ be happy about it?

My friend and I wrote an article about gym in schools and we got it published on a NYC Schools news/blog website :P

^ how exactly does that answer OP’s question?

If I were you OP I would rather have my mom be mad at me for not letting her publish that article than living a life of shame.

blood comes first.

and should be more like idgaf about others’ opinions, let yo momma have her little enjoyment

@dfree the point of cc isn’t to answer questions, it’s to show off. Every. Opportunity. Ever.

It will make it a lot easier for people to find info about you via Google.

Just something to consider…

Um, I wouldn’t really care. You’ll be gone when it comes out and probably no one will remember when you come back for more than 10 seconds.

It’s your call, but I personally don’t think it’s worth the effort to fight your mom.

per chance, could i ask what summer program it is?

In my opinion, your mother carried you around for about 9 months. The least you could do is let her get an article about you in the paper. It could be much worse, really.

It will make your mom feel better & it might be beneficial to you one way or another later on in life. Let her do it.

Live for today, plan for tomorrow.

if you told her that you didnt want to be in the paper, that should have been the end of the discussion. put your foot down.

Is it a town/city paper?

It’s not so bad to have something like this come up when people Google you.

Honestly I would avoid having it be put in the paper. When I went to ISEF, I got pretty much zero publicity and I liked it that way.
