Being middle class...

There are likely less lazy poor people (percentage wise, if such a figure was possible to calculate) than lazy rich people. Poor people, as a whole, work harder than rich people for less rewards and a grimmer future for their children. Yes, some can get out of poverty, but the system is structured so that if one rises, another (or others) fall. The only way to right the system, in my view, is to raise all of the poor and lower all of the obscenely rich to bring about enough equality so that the basic human right to life, and all that it entails (food, water, shelter, safety, health), can be met for ALL.

My point is that poor people have it far worse off than rich people or even middle class people, as this thread tries to suggest.

There was far more to my post than that, so why do you feel the need to say this? Anyway, I was expressing that I think the term “illegitimate children” shouldn’t be used, as a child cannot be illegitimate and suggesting that a child out of wedlock is somehow worth less is offensive, even to those not being grouped into that category.

^
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legitimacy_(law)

A Child can. It’s a term. Get over it.

Would you prefer “love child”?

Yes, I am aware of the legal term, thanks for that. If you read my post, I was objecting to the terminology that makes a qualitative assessment of such a child.

Also, good job having a broken link. You should fix that.

It’s LEGAL terminology.

Just stop. You’re making yourself look like a fool. You have no ground to stand on here.

I’m gonna need some ice for that burn!

I know man, you had a broken link…what a tragedy that you have better things to do than perfecting your “linking” ability.

My son got several offers of MERIT AID from private schools He chose 17K at Case Western in Cleveland ,got 10K offer from Rodchester .Yes .these are private colleges ,but maybe you could do better .A less desirable location to go to school may yield better aid offers .Just an idea . You don’t need to be a top student ,but certainly a good student.

I’m not allowed to dislike legal terminology? Okay, I guess I’ll have to bow to the all-powerful state.

What the hell, do you even get what I was saying? I just said I didn’t like the terminology and the example that I quoted shouldn’t have used it as it shouldn’t matter if a woman’s children are “legitimate” or not, as the qualitative assessment that seems to make is that such a child is somehow worth less. If I look like a fool, it’s merely because you won’t open your eyes enough to see more than a mirror, clinging ridiculously to the phrase “legal terminology,” as if that somehow counters my dislike for it. Seems fairly ridiculous for you to argue this with me, it was merely a comment I made in passing.

I don’t like the term “■■■■■■■■”. Can i just call them “Special”? What do you think Kev?

Perfectly within your right to take offense. However, are you drawing a parallel between “illegitimate” children and “■■■■■■■■” people?

I’m glad that no one can find holes in my arguments elsewhere, and thus choose to attack me only for a little part of a post I mentioned in passing.

I’m illegit. So I guess that makes me less of a person?

^^ Says the guy who made fun of me for having a broken link.

I’m out of this thread.

You’re horrible at arguing.

^ No, you’re just like the rest of us. I never said you were less of a person.

I was merely annoyed that you tried to refute me with a link, and when I clicked it, it was broken. You’re entitled to your opinions, but just because they’re yours doesn’t mean they’re true. Bye, now.

Seriously, an Asian joke? Racist…

^ I think that was actually a statement to narrow-mindedness than an Asian joke.

O__O

How did we get from I want to know how to get money and stuff for college b/c the world seems to forget the middle class needs money to fat people to illegitame kids to racist jokes??

I love Asians, please let’s not insult them.
If somebody was born through an unwed family who cares? The family structure in our world has changed.

Those of you that understand the purpose of me starting this thread thanks!! ^_^

oh and now they have this thread grouped with a thread for awards based on merit (I hope…) so Yaaaaahhh!!! (<–That was me cheering, for those who had no clue what I was doing)

Sigh, obviously it wasn’t a racist joke and he knows that. Hence, I didn’t see the need to respond to his attempt at… well, I actually don’t know what he was attempting, nor do I know his ancestry.

Also, I was trying to discuss the topic at hand before one comment of mine was targeted for all of this. Of course, I disagreed with the premise of the thread, but I tried to keep on topic.

^

I was asking for help with scholarships and money for school!!!

How did it all get so twisted? shakes head in sorrow
When I started this post it was not just about the poor but the rich as well.
I just wanted people to share how they go through this and how they get money for school.

Loans for me…

I’m gonna be broke.

Parents said they don’t have a lot of money to send me to school. And yet they make 140k a year.

BillyMC this isn’t a discussion on the structure of society, or which economic class is more needed than another. We are simply saying that the poor get all the need based aid, and random scholarships, the rich can pay out of pocket, and the middle class is left out to dry. Our parents make enough to have a house, food, and to support us, but not enough to pay for college.
