Which is more prestegious or viewed higher by colleges? Being published in a paper or being an Intel/Siemens Semi-finalist?

I would take a completely random and baseless guess by saying that being published is more prestigious.

It depends on the Journal.

what about being published, but as a co-author?

It depends on the school. For a science-oriented school Intel/Siemens is more valued, for a humanities oriented school being published is great for them. It also matters based on major, applying for an English major and being published is a big plus. Same with an engineering major and doing Intel. So it depends on you.

Wait I posted this whole long thing but I think it might be irrelevant. Do you mean published in a scientific journal, OP? Or in a literary magazine?

Are you really kidding me? Anything of that magnitude is that great. Stop trying to be the best and just have some fun.

Neither is a necessity.

well obviously, i was just wondering since my name is going to be in a paper, not necessarily a co-author but i guess a contributor? regardless, my name will be on it.

I published a one sentence poem.

does that count
