Both claim to be the most prestigious Science Competition for High School Students. For College Admissions, which is truly more impressive?

What’s more “impressive” to an admissions reader: a kid who works at McDonalds to earn extra $ or a kid who attains varsity field hockey?

Do you have an answer for that? That same logic goes for your “beauty contest” question about Siemens/Intel.

Do you think someone says:“Ah, she won Intel. Obviously more superior than this dude who won Siemens” or vice versa?

I would worry more about actually finishing projects and advancing in those competitions than which is perceived as more impressive.

lol @ this thread. the quintessential CC thread.

win both of them

The most important thing, instead of winning science competitions, is that you are actually passionate about science and do it because you actually like doing it, rather than because you want to win awards.

Anyways, the main difference is that Siemens cares more about the actual science, and Intel cares more about the student as a whole.

Amen! I guess it could be worse: “Does Harvard Crimson, Yale Blue or Stanford Cardinal better match my eye color?”

May I suggest some Visine for anybody who answers A or C?
