Being rich?

I've noticed a lot of topics going around where excellent students live with an obvious about of poverty in their lives, and I respect them immensely, I cannot imagine being in that position myself.

However, does having money have any influence on an admission decision (trust me, I'm not rich). I know that the financial package is separated from the actual application, but say the interview begins to ask about your parent jobs, and they were high powered lawyers and presidents of global companies, would this not have an affect. After all, universities are business institutions too. I'd imagine that they would admit such a student (given that he/she is qualified) simply because the family might be more inclined to give money to the university.

Just a thought, this has no reflection upon my life what so ever, just thought I would bring it up and see what you guys had to say.

it only matters for international students.

can you think of a situation where money...couldn't influence someones actions/decisions??

It is life....money talks bullsh**t walks

Well admissions are need-blind so they don't even look at ur financial situation...unless ur international. But of course money does have it's perks and there are def rich ppl at Cornell. If you aren't rich then u still have just as good a chance as a person who isn't rich when the admissions office is looking at ur applications...don't worry about it!
