Benefits of applying to in-state medical schools

I live in the state of Texas which is actually pretty good if i want to go to medical a school here. My gpa currently is 3.8. Numerical is 110. I have taken all PREAP/AP courses. I am a sophomore too, so i have 2 years to get better/ There are about 4-5 medical schools i know of in this state. How better will my chances be of getting accepted if apply in state.

More than 4-5 in Texas. Are you referring to BS/MD programs or are you talking about AFTER you go to college? Most medical students get a Bachelors degree at a university before they go to medical school. There are a few programs where you apply before college and your spot is held, but even then you still have to go to college first.Even if you go out to a non-Texas university, you will still be considered a resident (unless Texas is crazy). Therefore, you will still have an advantage at texas medical schools. The advantage varies from school to school, but it can be pretty darn significant.
