About Medical School

I want to be a medical doctor. Only problem is, my GPA is absolutely terrible...3.5. The only thing I have going for me right now are 800's in IIC, US History, and Physics. And with the four upcoming AP exams that I'm taking (English Language, Physics B, Calc AB, and US History), I'm fairly certain that I will get 5's if not 4's. In my senior year, I will be taking another 4-6 AP exams. (Late decision?) Anyway, with such a bad GPA, is there any way I can get into Medical school whether it be the 8-yr program or the grad program? Do I have a shot at premed, biochem, or any undergrad program that will lead up to med school? If so, which schools should I apply for when doing those college apps next year? Thanks in advance.

Um relax. Med schools could care less how you did in high school.

a 3.5 is not terrible.

ya.. have hope

i don't know if you'll get into straight med. program. the people who i have known that got in had gpa's of about 5.2ish/5. i didnt have that gpa(3.7/4) but i'm majoring in biochem. the main thing is to get as many A's as possible in college, at least a 3.5. we've been having the same discussion at my house. hope that helped.

haha are you my brother

my GPA blows too

Well, that makes me feel a lot better now. So which undergrad major should I go for and which universities should I apply to?

Um relax. Med schools could care less how you did in high school.

To echo Shark Bite, med schools really couldn't care less about anything you did in HS.

this is kind of (well....extremely) irrelevant, but it shows the beauty of the english language. Tumr "echoed" sharkbite by saying med schools "couldn't" care less, while sharkbite said they "could" care less.......just interesting that they both mean the same thing.

end transmission.

If you 'could care less', that means that something matters somewhat to you - you obviously care about it. Most people who say 'could care less' mean 'couldn't care less'. If you couldn't care less, then there is no way you could have less care or interest in something - you already care so little.

Relax take a nap, play a few hands of poker. Med Schools are grad schools which look at your COLLEGE stress that College stats and MCAT scores. Everything your doing now is to get you into college and college presitge doesn't always help you get into medical school. Okay relax a bit freak out you Junior year in college when you have to start the med school application process and when you have to take the MCAT.

take a chill pill! :)
it's all about what happens in college. i mean even undergraduate admissions don't give a crap about what you did in elementary & middle school, yeah? :)
