Hi guys
Sorry I don’t know if this is the right place to post this… but I was wondering in terms of ranking which school is better for finance…
Questrom vs Bentley…
I am also looking into a school that offers a strong career placement as well…
Questrom is in Boston University
They both will give you access to plenty of internships in the Boston area. BU will have more to offer in general as it’s a large research university in the thick of the city. Bentley is very focused on business. My S turned down a big scholarship there because he was concerned it was too business oriented, felt like a different type of school compared tot he others he saw. That said, Bentley has a great reputation.
How important is feel? BU is in the busy city. It has a linear campus along Comm ave… Not a lot of green space. City living, high rise dorms, etc. Bentley has a small but beautiful suburban campus with access to the city but in its own little hamlet. More of the conventional college campus.
I would take Questrom because it is far more selective, and as a result, it will be viewed far higher by employers, both for actual jobs and for internships. However, the two schools are completely different. I love both, but walking around the incredibly big campus of BU is quite the pain. If you know you’re going to do well at Bentley (like 4.0 level) then you can pass on Questrom, because personally, if I were to live at Bentley, it’s just far more beautiful and pleasant to look at.
It’s a cliche bit of advice, but take a tour and see which one tugs your heart. Your gut feeling will definitely help.
You can have a good outcome from either school. Think about which environment is more conducive to your success and happiness – a midsize, suburban, business focused school or a large, urban, well rounded university. IMO there is no right answer for every person.
