hey y’all, I recently got accepted to Berea and would love to connect with others who are also considering to go to Berea
@msolijanova hey! Are you an international?
Congratulations, GIRL!! You deserve it!! Hope you had a great time at Berea College! Only 14 days more to GO! OMG. I’m so anxious!!
@smartypanties I’m Uzbek-American and I applied as an American student. Some of y’all have really impressive stats! My stats are pretty average. Good luck everyone, and pls let me know if you make it so that we can connect
GPA ~3.6
Hey congrats @msolijanova we hope to see you at BC
@Karlastyle2020 I guess we should expect the decision to arrive anytime now since we don’t have an exact date. It makes me really anxious.
@Heriniaina Wait, what? So.now is not on March 31? So it can be before? Or even after march 31?
@Karlastyle2020 Well, they said no later than March 31st, so it technically means that it can arrive anytime, as long as it is not past this day. I’ve checked the other threads for the previous years, and I could see that it is between the 3rd and last week of March. So, we can expect it now
@Heriniaina I do have seen past threads about admissions and you’re exactly right. It is usually on like on March 22 and beyond. So it can arrive at any time. Are you nervous?
I’ve been nervous since the time I received the last update in early March. I didn’t expect to receive any more update, so I thought it was the final decision… and I freaked out!
@Heriniaina It’s March 20. Practically just one week to know whether we got in or not. I’m so excited. The waiting is killing me every second.
wep, the decision should be out next week…
@Heriniaina In the application, you had to put your cellphone number, however, a month ago my cellphone got stolen when I was in the bus. Do you think that’s an issue? I didnt do anything about it, nor even message the people involved with the process, because at the end of the day, the response about whether you’re got in it’s going to be through email and not through a phone call.
@Heriniaina Have you ever received a call, personally from Berea? Cuz if not, then I shouldn’t worry.
So true, I have been so nervous last month or so…I suppose ‘mail’ app thinks I am nuts
@Karlastyle2020 I once contacted them regarding a change in my home address since we recently moved house. But what they said to me was that their only form of contact with international applicants is via email… so you shouldn’t worry about the phone number. They’ll reach you via email first… you can then update your phone number once you get accepted
OMG, MONDAY. LET THE FINAL COUNTDOWN BEGIN.
Honestly i dont even know if i wanna go anymore. Idk what opportunities berea offer for CS and whether the school is enough for me to land a job and stay in the US.
@LebronJames420 well if you got admitted at a better institution and can afford to pay for fees, or got a good scholarship offer, then it would be a good choice to opt elsewhere. BC is a good institution and it has a decent CS faculty, it’s CS program is a B.A; and, of course, you can land a job after graduation. But this is a great institution if you plan to go to grad school.
It has a branch of CS program for those who plan to go to grad school, the class looks rigorous, and it can get you to some of the leading grad schools out there. It just depends on your plan, whether you plan to get a job directly after graduation or do masters.
imo BC good if you plan to go to grad schools. But in term of job, it all comes down do your resumé which you strengthen by how well you did your internships. As people tend to say, B.A and B.S don’t really matter during a job interview, all that matters is what you can accomplish and the potential you can show.
@Heriniaina Can you give me the name of the CS branch for grad school plz (or a link if you have it). I would really appreciate it. Atm im still waiting for 8 more schools 4 of which ivy league so this week is going to be decisive as to where ill end up.
https://www.berea.edu/csc/computer-information-science-majors-minors/ here is the link for the CS program, it has 4 branches actually; two of these are focused on grad school. If you click on any of titles of the branches, you will be redirected to the catalog where you can see all the details of the course offered on that specific branch.
