@savill88 Well I am also applying from Nepal. I am not exactly giving you a competition , but I am also as desperate as you to get in a good competitive college.

There’s not only competition between applicants of the same country but also between applicants of different countries because each year applications come from 70 countries and each year about 30 internationals are accepted.

@Batuli I am sorry that I am your competition when you really need the acceptance. By the way I am desperate too…Got waitlisted by Gettysburg, rejected my college of wooster because they can’t give me financial aid as much as I want and I am not expecting much from earlham. So, for me Berea is the last option. And, I have written my essay in two days which has not turned out well. May be you have better essay than mine. Well may the best candidate win.
@alisiddiqui94 Yeah I know that…that is the reason I am restless waiting for april to hear the decision. Hoping for the best

@savill88 we have almost the same situation I have also been wait listed by Gettysburg and have been rejected by College of Wooster as they can’t give me full aid. So yeah Berea is the last college I am looking forward to. :)

@alisiddiqui94 I hope we both get in then…

@savill88 I hope so

@alisiddiqui94 To hope is what we can do for now…

I also have been wait-listed by Gettysburg in addition to some other colleges. To tell you the truth, I do not think I have shot at Berea even though I really wish I get in. When are their decisions coming, btw?

by 11 April

I have applied to Berea as well, (from Bangladesh), and really freaking out! this college is like my only hope!! any one else from bangladesh? is there a hidden quota for asian students or something, like they can’t take bangladeshis and pakistanis at the same year…cuz if thats the case im so screwed (my gpa sucks).

Hi shinodarocks all we know is that they select a total of 30 internationals each year and the only quota is that they select a single applicant from each country (they do this to diversify their college community).
BTW they can take Bangladeshi and Pakistani in the same year whats that got to do with your GPA??

Hi Ali. I am from Pakistan too. As far as I know you and this another kid in my city are the only ones who applied to Berea. its between us then! I have 1950 SAT, 6As and 2 Bs in o levels and same predicted grades as you for A levels. I’m hopeful because I had an exchange year in the U.S, some more intl experiences and a lot of community service under my belt. You’re from which city? I am from Rawalpindi.

As for everyone else, good luck! I hope I get to see all of you this year :D

Hi Airfan I am from Lahore and there are two other applicant I know of are applying from Lahore. This makes total of 5 Pakistani applying as far as we know. I am optimistic about Berea too because there’s something about it that other colleges don’t have. It is totally free and thus our financial need can’t hurt our applications in anyway. I am surprised why so few people apply though. By the way competition is really tough a girl from my school is applying and she has a 2260 in SAT, 8As in O-Level, Predicted 4A* in A-Level and her sister was previously accepted by Berea.
In my opinion the Personal Statement would play a major role as all of us over here have somewhat same stats.
Does anyone know any current Berea student so we can ask him/her about the admission statistics?

Berea you are my only hope now rejected from almost all colleges I applied to.

Hello everyone. I am Rejina from Kathmandu,Nepal. I completed my A-levels from Chelsea in the year 2012…I have a SAT score of 2260 and have 4A*. What are my chances in Berea? Who else has applied to Berea?

Hi Rejina your stats are really good but no one really knows the criteria on which Berea selects applicants but I think you have a great chance of being accepted. Best of Luck

@alisiddiqui, I am worried cuz all the pakistanis seem to have better gpa’s than me, lol. i am paranoid. i hope there arent too many applicants from bangladesh this year.

@airfan: hey! u sound totally like me! i spent a year in the states as an exchange student too! (and a few other int’l experiences too) even my sat and o level result is similar to yours! …though im worried this cant be a good thing. u’re ahead in community service though!

@alisiddiqui: BTW how many colleges did you apply to??

@shinodarocks In applied to 20 colleges, accepted by 3, rejected by 15, wait listed by 1 and I am waiting for Berea.

Hey, I am also from Nepal. I have also applied to Berea. Actually, It is kind of first choice college for me. Do you think you will be selected?
