Berkeley alumni, or just berkeley students, question for you!

I am currently thinking of going through the honors program for MCB, and doing a double major in econ, plus a minor in bioeng. Is this really way too much to do in 4 years and I should maybe rethink the double major/minor?

Also, for those of you that have done the honors program in MCB, should it take more than a year to do the honors thesis? assuming that you aren’t taking any classes or are taking a small number of classes during that year?

Thanks!

if you think you can handle it, then its all good, but you know this means almost no life right?

Are you currently in Bioengineering right now??

no, not in bioeng. and to the other poster, yeah, i sort of do want to have a life outside of school, so i'm thinking maybe minor in bioeng and econ rather than double major, plus honors in mcb.

So you went from double major/minor to major/double minor? It's not like that's gonna open up oodles of free time for you...

Yeah, I guess I'm just a confused little person right now. I love all three subjects, but I know that it is nearly impossible to have fun in college AND be able to graduate with a decent GPA for grad school with all of what I want to do.

But whatever I do, i'm pretty sure of the honors MCB.

I'm actually double majoring in MCB and Business. I started out as a BioE then I transferred into Letters and Science to focus just on bio. The double is not that hard, but you pretty much have to take at least 16 units every semester to finish in four years. Most people who double end up spending an extra semester or two to finish their degrees.

MCB is tough at Berkeley. But I know 2.8 GPA's in MCB from Berkeley who get accepted into top 15 PhD Biology programs in the US. It is a very prestigious major for graduate schools.

how do u apply to honors MCB?
