<p>I said this to a professor in an email a while back:</p>

Learning for learning’s sake. If college success was that easy and grades didn’t exist, then employers and grad schools would have a hell of a time filtering applicants into their respective positions and worth in society. But by defining a human’s intellectual curiosity and ability using a 5-letter (A,B,C,D,F) 2-symbol (+,-) system and converting these letters to numerical values, we apparently encapsulate a student’s learning ability and experience. I’m not sure if I fully agree with this type of reasoning, but I can’t offer any other alternative system of capitalistic measurement.
