@thnkprnctn It maybe a stupid questions. But can u tell me where is the link to appeal? I have been searching it for the whole night. Thank you very much!

@lovecal there should be a link (some faq page) on your myberkeley webpage.

when are appeals due for you guys this year??

15th for UCLA but Berkeley is either 15th or May 1st⊠two websites state differently lol

@ikrchen hey I know this is a wild shot but do you know if top 10% in high school is good enough to mention in an appeal for Berkeley or UCLA?

@lovecal according to Ms. Sun, Berkeley forgot to put up the link. Here it is:

https://students.berkeley.edu/myberkeley/myberkeleyapp.asp?todo=appeal

@caligirl14 @thnkprnctn Thx guys!

@thnkprnctnâ No, I donât think so sorry:( Only because majority of applicants who get in are within 10% of their class. Itâs almost unexpected to not be.

Everyone thinking of appealing:

While I wish all of you could be admitted (Go Bears!), realistically speaking donât bother to appeal unless you have an absolutely incredible update that you need to tell.

The admission dept gets all sorts of essays about the hardship they went thru during the application period which disabled them from focusing on the application, blah blah blah. Iâm sure some of them are true but when hundreds of ppl are claiming the same thing, who do you trust and who do you ignore?

Only academic achievements that are rare (i.e. Intel Talent Search, other state/national-level awards) should be noted, instead of stating ELC / top __% of class.

However, if you do have a compelling reason to appeal-- go all out, pour your heart out, include a letter of recommendation from a trusted person⊠good luck.

^^ mmm I disagree, I think unless you have absolutely nothing to appeal for, you should try appealing if you want another chance. I never won any rare academic achievement or whatever and everyone here on confidential kept telling me to not even bother trying to appeal because I had no compelling reason, and if I had listened, I wouldnât be attending Berkeley right now as a fall admit.
The chances arenât great, but if you have something to work with it doesnât hurt to try because you never know.

@ikrchen Do you like your experience at Berkeley so far? Was the appeal worth your time there?

@Rebecca0123â Couldnât imagine myself anywhere else. Appealing was the best decision of my life.

May 1 is near, anyone has results from this yearâs appeal? It did say that they would try best to decide by May 1 on the portal

The results arenât coming out May 1, they are coming June 1st this year. They are DUE by May 1st.

The appeal is due by May 1st, but many did it fairly early.

Looks like for early appeals, they say they are trying to have results by May 1 (but no promise):

Your Appeal Status
Your appeal for admission has been received and is under review. Please check this site regularly for a reply. We will do our best to post a decision by Thursday, May 01, 2014.

I donât think they will delay an entire month for appeal results based on the above note on the portal. Late appeals might get delayed in decision, but early ones should come out any time from now and may be early May. From middle of May, it will mainly be the time for deciding on wait list admissions until end of June.

Last couple of years, the appeal results are out around or shortly after May 1.

How early do you mean? I posted mine in the first week of April. Is that early enough?

Someone I know submitted their appeal yesterday, and it still says result will be out May 1st, so thats obviously wrong. I think they will come out during the month of May but probably in the end of it.

Some CC-er in another thread said that the admissions office responded that 2nd week of May, appeal results will be out. It makes sense as they need to do appeals before doing waitlists.

" April 30
I called them with these questions, and these were the responses.

1) When will appeals results be released?
A: By the second week of May.

2) Do edits affect the time they are reviewed?
A: No.

3) What is the status of my appeal?
A: They havenât started reviewing them yet. They want to get their enrollment numbers first. Appeal decisions will be released by the second week of May.
"

Umm well they havenât gotten back to anyone yet so I think the lady lied.

I donât think they would lie on the phone like that, maybe they realized they couldnât read all the appeals by 2nd week of may so now they are saying wait until June
