Will I probably get into Berkeley as a mechanical engineering major if I recieved a likely letter from UCLA engineering.

Yes, you probably will.
Don't sue me if you don't, though...

what does the likely letter say in it...i am very curious and hope you will tell us

Berkeley engineering is much more competitive than UCLA engineering.

Yah I know its more competitive, but if I get a likely from UCLA which is better than average could I get into UC Berkeley without a likely, if that makes any sense. The letter said UCLA recieved many applicants and I was one of the outstanding applicants. They said the faculty at the UCLA school of engineering has reccomended me for admission.

Fair chance, but Cals engineering is MUCH higher rated than UCLAs and is in great demand. They are not so much getting the same applicants as UCLA (except where money is a crucial factor), their competition is Stanford, Caltech and MIT.
