Berkeley for pre-med?

Is pre-med at Berkeley stressful or intenser than at other schools?

Pre med is inense and stressful no matter where you go.

Berkeley is one of the largest producer of med school applicants in the country. Last year ~800 Berkeley seniors applied for med school admission

How many were admitted to med school out of these 800 applicants? And that’s from how many who started as freshmen?

Pre-med is intense everywhere. Berkeley is more intense than most universities. There are thousands of bright, hard working, driven young Californians and far too few places in California Med schools.
Logically
Pre-med at Berkeley is even more intense than elsewhere.

Pre-med classes are generally tough (chem and o-chem, physics, bio, pre-med math, etc.) - at a grade deflating school like Cal, really tough. Med schools are looking primarily at GPA and MCAT scores, and those stats have to be good, regardless of where you go. A good school with a tough grading system cannot make up for that, but doing well there can confirm that you are able to handle the heavy workload of a med student. Conversely, stellar GPA/MCATs at a less rigorous school can open many med school doors. As for the med-school producer applicant stats,I would be curious as to how those med-school applicants fared. There are applications, and then there are admissions.

Hello! I have just been admitted to Cal (in state)! I am very keen on pursing pre-med and I’ve also received the Baker-Nord scholarship with 25K merit scholarship from Case Western and the Carolina Research Scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill. Putting finances aside, what would you suggest is the best for me for pre med?

Went to ROHP and chatted with a random current UCB premed student. Per the student, come to UCB for engineering , go to UCLA for premed.

How much would each college cost?
If you compare yourself to the college’s stats, would you rank among the top 10% (roughly)?
What advantages do the scholarships bring?
Did you get Regents at UCB?
