Hi I'm an international student admitted to Class of 2015. Please direct me to a similar thread if such already exists.

How do you find housing at Berkeley? Are you already assigned to a roommate or are you supposed to apply for International House/On-campus dorms by yourself via the internet? When do we normally start registering for housing? What are the pros and cons of on-campus vs off-campus housing? Is late July too late because I'm waiting on my IB grades.

I'm really confused as well as concerned that I might apply too late and have nowhere to live when I arrive for orientation in August.

Thanks for your patience and help (I hope you reply below..)

Argh it appears I’ve missed the May 6 deadline?!? Any suggestions for what to do now? Am I totally restricted to offcampus rentals?

You should call the housing office ASAP and see what they can do for you. Maybe they can arrange something, but if not, you’ll probably have to look for an apartment. Also, I don’t know much about these places, but there are privately owned and operated ‘dorms’ like Westminster that you can check out as well. Not sure if they’d still take applicants, but it’s an idea. I think another place that is like this (although not as nice) is Telegraph Commons.

Also, since you had no idea about the housing deadline, it’s probably good to mention that orientation happens during June and July. If you can’t attend, you need to tell them by June 13 (which is TOMORROW) so if you haven’t already done this, you need to.

Hello! I am an international student admitted to class of 2015 as well and I will be hunting for apartments in Berkeley before school starts. If you’re interested in finding a place together, pm me! :D

I’ve been admitted to the Class of '15 too and have applied for housing. Does anyone know when they give out offers?

If by offer you mean you housing assignment, I personally have been given my housing offer and accepted it. (I’m also Class of 2015)
