I used to know someone that went to princeton junction, really nice place. anyways, berkeley will give out need-based scholarships if you need it. I received 11k in gift aid and 4k in work study from berkeley meanwhile ucsd offered me 8k in gift aid and ucsb offered me nada. I definitely would have found it difficult to pay the ~55k without some financial aid from berkeley but my parents are also willing to pay cause I’m going to berkeley for chemical engineering, a program ranked 2nd in the nation behind MIT. It all depends on what you want to do. I’d say go for berkeley if you’re interested in engineering and business but other than that, choose wisely.

Agree about Engineering and I’d include the College of Chemistry. But I’d think long and hard about paying $55k for the chance to apply to Haas in two years. If not accepted into Haas, one is left in L&S, with Econ as a possibility. While Econ and liberal arts are great, 1) they aren’t undergrad biz; 2) Econ is an impacted major, and one has to apply into it in two years. Too much risk, IMO.

^ Greater risk = greater potential reward. ;)

depends on the other options, UCB. Sure, Haas is great, but so are the other top dozen schools…and if one is admitted directly into it…with the exception of Wharton (& perhaps MIT-Sloan), undergrad biz tends to be regional.
