Berkeley v. Chicago

So....I was pretty sure I was going to go to UChicago for sure but I got accepted to Berkeley with a full scholarship and Chicago will be about 10,000 or so a year so now I'm starting to rethink my decision. I'm looking to major in economics and then go to law school. Does anyone know if Berkeley is comparable?

I’d say Berkeley is DEFINITELY comparable and has a great reputation. I think you also have the opportunity to have a bit more balanced life there. You know what they say about UChicago: “The place where fun goes to die” XD. Don’t know if that’s true but it’s definitely been said a lot.

Chicago is very famous for its economics department. If I were big on economics, I’d go there, even though I am not a big fan of monetarism or Friedman’s ideas.

Go to UChicago and get me Steven Levitt’s autograph.

All jokes aside, I don’t know much about UChicago besides the fact that its undergraduate Econ department is ranked #1. Berkeley isn’t far behind. I’d visit both schools to get a better idea of the environment.

Berkeley is free so go to that one.
