Hey CC,

I was evaluating my college list and I was thinking about replacing Cornell Univeristy with UC Berkeley. I'm viewing UC Berkeley as a better choice in terms of engineering, however, I'm wondering if the overall atmosphere would be good. I just want to see what people have to say about either schools and in terms of their engineering and also overall college experience.

Thanks!

If you are in state for Berkeley, affordability wise it will be far better.

Finances aside, the locations are drastically different.

Cornell is in Ithaca, NY – very rural and a very small surrounding College Town. Cornell is going to be ridiculously cold in the Winter. Can you handle the cold or are you ready to experience it? On the other hand Cornell also has beautiful gorges and some epic natural scenery.

Berkeley is right next to San Francisco, CA – a major urban city. The city is thriving and Berkeley is one of the most thriving campuses.
