Which of these schools would be best for engineering and provide the best possibility for working at a place like McKinsey.

I vote Berkeley.

Then Cornell.

Then CMU.

Although I hear CMU does have a kick ass program.

Berkeley!!! but I think CMU has better graduate program

I don't know and they probably don't either.

i know berkeley is ranked #3 for graduate, so i don't think CMU has a "Better graduate program"

but this is undergrad, and that's a different story.

i'd say that cornell and mellon definitely provide a stronger undergrad eduation, white berkeley will give u a stronger graduate education. berkeley's undergrad just can't compare with it's grad, despite it's #2 undergrad ranking. There's oversized classes, too many student profs, etc...these aren't a problem at cornell and mellon. On the other hand, you'll have to consider cornell's horrid weather and mellon's rather geeky student body.

For me, I got into Cornell and berkeley but most likely am going with berkeley. studying all the time (at cornell) would not be right for me. i'd like to escape with at least some moderate looking chicks to SF and chill during the weekends or something.

Good luck
