Best ACT Practice Book

The Real ACT
Kaplan
Barrons
...

I used sparknotes for the Oct. 25 test and I know that I did poorly.

Everyone on here pretty much says that the best way to practice is by doing practice tests. So I'm guessing it would be The Real ACT. Anything by the makers of the test is usually the best way to go.

If you need to review basics pick up Barrons. The best prep is timed official practice tests though.

The only book that helped me AT ALL was the Real ACT. Taking all of its practice tests, I think, is the best way to prepare. This is for me though. The math, grammar, vocab etc is easy enough where you don't need to do serious knowledge based studying (again at least for me. it's not tough stuff, especially compared to SAT.) All that mattered was my speed. I couldn't finish science and reading. Only thing that helped was practice, not strategies.

Only 1 strategy I highly suggest: DON'T read the science passages (except the compare scientist viewpoints). Go straight to questions and refer back.

TTwhite - I can relate to yoru 100%. Saturday, when I took that ACT, I did perfect on the math and english, but when it came to reading and science I was unable to finish. However, I did manage to bubble in every problem, but time is the worst part of the ACT for me.

It depends if you want practice, then The REAL ACT Guide all the way.

But if you want to brush up on all the material, then the Princeton Review Cracking the ACT is amazing.
